So my last post was about fighting the good fight. It stirred my mind to this scripture
"Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. "
When should we be wise as serpents? It takes exactly that to see how the Adversary works. He is cunning. He is a deceiver. He makes that that should NOT be touched, lovely. That began in the garden. We need to seek God for the wisdom to see when the Devil begins to work in us. Do we listen as he whispers in our ear or do we hear it and fight the good fight? Are we even wise enough to see how things or people around us maybe be affecting our service? Can we tell the difference between the sheep and the wolf in sheep's clothing? That takes some wisdom. It takes eyes that are open by the word of God to see the disguises of the Devil. Years ago a brother preached on this scripture and he said that he questioned many times how you would know the difference. One day it hit him, wolves are meat eaters. They will devour the sheep. I have thought about that many times. How do we see that today? If the "sheep" you have around you are feeding things of the flesh, trying to separate, being unkind etc, they are just the wolves in sheep's clothing. The true sheep will be gentle, kind, longsuffering, etc. It is up to us to seek God for the wisdom. It is up to us to approach the throne BOLDLY. While fighting the good fight of faith, keep your eye on the sheep. Watch for the wolf that has snuck in among the sheep. Watch for the sheep that may not see the wolf in sheep's clothing sneaking up on them. Pray for them and seek God that he may give you the wisdom and words to help them see what stands before them. God, help me to be wise as a serpent and gentle as a dove...
