My thoughts this morning have been about being obedient to the Lord. These verses came to mind...
"And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from being king."
Sometimes to obey the Lord is NOT an easy thing to do. As you stand and look at it in the flesh, it makes no sense at all. As humans we can not see past the nose on our face. He knows the whole picture. He knows how things are going to unfold. It may be years down the line before we see WHY he wanted us to submit to His will in a certain way. But...do we have a WILLING mind to step out in faith believing that if we are just obedient to HIS will all will be okay?
" For if there be first a willing mind, it is accepted according to that a man hath, and not according to that he hath not."
This morning I am so thankful for my Mom and the lessons that she continues to teach me in these very things. The example she is to me in the desire to BE obedient. The reminder she is to me how if we step out in faith believing to be obedient there is a bigger plan. Just looking at her reminds me of times in my life that I had to step out and submit to things that did not make sense to my flesh but as the bigger picture has unfolded ALL makes sense. Those times brought me to her and the opportunity to have the relationship that we share. I am so thankful it every single day. Thank you Mom. Thank you for your example in the desire to be obedient, for loving me and encouraging me. I am honored to be called your daughter.
"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."
Lord let this mind be in me...obedience unto death..
"Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."
