Just Morning Thoughts....

I was checking the blogs that I like to read and one had a post today asking what effects relationships. She wrote about how efficiency effects relationships, relationships with her children. She went on to write how as Moms, we can get so busy cleaning, laundry, cooking etc that we don't really take time to form relationships with our children. Although I see her point and agree I began to think of other things that effect the relationships we have with our "friends"/brethren. Of course we know that things of the flesh change relationships. We as humans want support, love, care, concern, affection and yes sometimes we just want to feel that what we are going through is important to someone else too. We want to feel our friends hands as they lift up OUR hands as they hang down. Yes, it is a time that is a little selfish, but human. When no one is there is when relationships change (sometimes). Our feelings are hurt or a feeling of being abandoned. It sure makes the load seem so much heavier. Have you thought about the times that your load was so heavy and someone was there to help carry it? Have you thought about how they took time away from their own life to listen to you, hug you, checking on you, love you? Have you thought about how many times YOU have done that for someone else? When you look at your friends and really think about each relationship, do you see an equal partnership? Have you given as much as you have received? Not that we keep a score card but it isn't that hard to to see.

"Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:"

Are we so involved in our own trials or the busyness of life to look on the things of others? I think a lack in these things effect relationships. What do you think? What do you think effects relationships with our friends/brethren? Are you the one lacking in the situation? Yes, it is greater to give then receive but lets face it...we all want to receive sometimes. I thought about this story about Christ...

"Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.

And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour?

Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

Then cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

Rise, let us be going: behold, he is at hand that doth betray me."

He asked them to be there for him for them to only sleep. Are we REALLY there for our friends/brethren? How can I do better? Morning self examination....
